A Thousand Love Calls

That Send You to Hell

24 November 2006

Since earlier last month, Mr Guo in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, has received a huge influx of voice and text messages, almost all coming from men. Each of them called him Miss Guo, and wanted him to know how keen they are to meet him in person with a view to a long-term relationship. So far, he's got over a thousand love calls and several hundred passionate text messages.

He was very disturbed, and his family was angry. "What the story with this?" they demanded an answer from him.

So he decided to investigate. Following the clues in some of the messages, he logged onto a local online chat room, and there he found a post with a long title that reads "I Used to Be a Prostitute; Wonder If Any Man Ever Wants Me to Be His Girlfriend." In the post it says that after years living a life of lust and disgrace, she now craves a normal relationship with a guy who has a big heart, and if he loves her, she would have no concern whether he’s rich or poor. It all sounds admirable. But the problem is that it was posted in Guo's name and his mobile phone number is listed for contact.

But the post evidently has touched the hearts of thousands of Taiyuan bachelors, hits and responses flood in, most praising her honesty and wishing her good luck in finding a true love.

Mr Guo is not amused. To him, nothing is more dishonest and heartless than the one who created this stupid joke. He just wants to catch that rascal to prove he, (a), is not a woman, (b), has never been a prostitute, and (c), doesn’t need a boyfriend.

Will he succeed? Let's wait and see...

Dog: Hi, ya'll, I'm Doctor Guo, h'm, I’m a beautiful dogirl. Wonder if any guy out there wants me to be his girlfriend. Give me a buzz if you’re interested.
