National Day Pride
in Beijing
200,000 people
gathered in the Tiananmen Square early
Sunday morning to observe the flag rising
ceremony that was completed with the
release of 10,000 doves into the sky,
marking the 57th anniversary
of the founding of the People’s
Republic of China. Some audience began
waiting for the moment since 2 o’clock
in the midnight.

But the occasion
of pride did not go without some
unpleasant incidents. Nearly 20,000
people lost contact from each other and
had to seek emergency help for locating
whereabouts of their family members. Most
of them were parents looking for their
children who simply wandered off from the
group.
