Welcome to the Party,
Golden Babes

Chinese
revere dragon. When it comes to
golden dragon, they fall for it. And
it is literally. Then a large amount
of tiny golden dragons are born.
Year
2000 is a golden dragon year, only
once in every sixty years. The fact
that 2000 is also the threshold to
new millennia makes Chinese couple
fell even harder.
The
result? When the new school year
began in this September, many primary
schools in China found themselves
having to cope with the sudden surge
of the new students, as the babies
born in 2000, now having turned six,
are twice as many as that in the
previous years. In 1999, the number
of newborns is 19 million, and in
2001 the figure is a little more than
17 million. But the year between
them, 2000, China got 36 million tiny
dragons.
But
Chinese do not just love dragon. They
love piggy too. When it is a golden
pig year, they fall …. in love with
each other, and then a large number
of tiny golden piglets are born.
If
somebody says that the head of
Chinese primary schools will again
ache seven years later in 2013, that
is not far off the mark. Just look
how many young Chinese lining up to
get married this year. To most of
them it is a strategic move aiming at
bringing home a Golden Babe (金猪宝宝) next year.
Because 2007 is a Golden Pig year,
that only occurs once in every 60
years.
However,
some China’s planning experts have
expressed their concerns over the
extra pressure brought by the uneven
growth of the population on China’s
already strained infrastructure
system, especially in the areas of
education and hospital services.

Babe:
Pressure? What pressure? You mean
I'm too fat too heavy for the
straw mat? Okay, how about I
sleep like this?
But by
now, most ordinary folks just happily
look forward to see little cute fat
babes emerging one after another, and
crawling and squeaking all over the
land of China …… An era of golden
babe is dawn, cheers!
