An Unassailable Chinese Structure

There is a bridge built 40 years ago during the Culture Revolution years in Jinayan City (简阳市), Sichuan Province. After the powerful earthquake in May, the bridge is seemingly to be severely damaged to the degree that it looks as if could collapse at any point, so a decision to destroy it was made.

After over 2000 holes drilled in the body of the bridge and 380 tons of explosives filled in, the date to explode this briged into bits and pieces was announced.

When the news spread, tens of thousands of people gathered at the site, with many carrying their cameras, preparing to witness and record the moment of ruin.

At about 2pm on that particular day in July 2008, following a massive sound of explosion, dust rose high towards the sky, and the world darkened to morn the death of a structure that had faithfully serviced the locals for four decades.

When the dust resettled onto the ground and the world brightened again, to the destroyers' great shock and the audience's immense awe, they found the bridge is still standing there, straight.

Boy, I give up ... no good to mess up with ya ...
