Beijing's Dating
Fairs
2 Mayl 2007
Guess these girls
line up waiting for what? A job interview? A
fashion award? None of these. They are
waiting for a love letter.
On the May Day,
thousands people attended a dating fairs at
Beijing’s Shijinshan district, especially
tailored for so-called “white-collars” (白领). The dating park is divided
into a dozen or so domains with the names
sounded like something copied from job fairs,
such as Post-Graduation area (硕博 for those with either a
master’s degree or Ph.D), Overseas
Qualifications area (海归区), Public Servants
area, Teachers area.

A guy
delivers his love verdict to a girl canditate
In a way, it does
like a business expo. The candidates post
their personal profiles along with a photo
and brief description of their ideal match on
the board, and everyone browses around to
find a suitable target to conduct an initial
interview.
Apparently, the girls
seemed to be keener than the boys. When they
were asked by the organizers to display their
talents to impress their potential partners,
most of them got down to business seriously
and gave it their best shot. The boys just
watched, passively, preferred to be an
audience rather than a reality show judge;
just a few who were brave enough to deliver a
love message to the girl he had a crush on.
And that is why the girls lined up waiting
anxiously.
The dating fairs will
be concluded at the end of the "golden
holiday" season, alegedly. (Source
